Liberal Democrat General Election Manifesto 2010

The 2010 Liberal Democrat Manifesto set out Nick Clegg’s and his party’s alternative after 13 years of the New Labour Government and wished to build on the Liberal Democrats 2005 General Election success, which saw it’s highest vote share and total number of MPs elected since the party was established.

Developed around four key themes of fairness, the Liberal Democrats went on to improve their vote share in the General Election, but lose five seats overall. Following the General Election, which produced a hung Parliament, Nick Glegg formed a coalition with Conservative Party Leader, David Cameron and became Deputy Prime Minister in the new government. The First Liberal Democrat Leader to serve as a government Minister.
