Liberal Democrats General Election Manifesto 2001

In the foreword, Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Richard Lisvey MP sums up the key message of the manifesto – “One word sums this up : freedom.”

The document titled “Freedom for Wales in a Liberal World”, sets out the party’s priorities – investing in schools and hospitals to cut class sizes and waiting times, extra police to prevent crime and catch criminals, increasing the basic state pension, and providing free personal care.

They party also call for further devolution in Wales, and talk of their plans to set up a finance commission for the nations and regions, including representation from Wales, to establish the needs-based revenue distribution formula.
